This Saturday, the new "Hayabusa" shinkansen will make its maiden trip between Aomori and Tokyo.  On the way, it will stop in Sendai and guess who's going to take lots of pictures!  This new train is a marvel of technology and design: it will be the fastest conventional passenger train.  World records (currently held by the TGV) are nice, but actually building a usable passenger train is something else.  People are quite enthusiastic about the new Hayabusa: signs and even an inflatable mini version are all through Tokyo.

ps: Guess how much Mathematics is needed to run this train?  Anyone?  

Deze zaterdag maakt de nieuwe "Hayabusa" shinkansen zijn eerste officiele trip van Aomori (in the Noorden) naar Tokyo.  Deze trein stopt in Sendai en driemaal raden wie daar foto's van zal maken!  Deze nieuwe trein is een pareltje van technologie en ontwerp: het zal de snelste conventionele passagierstrein zijn.  Wereldrecords halen is indrukwekkend (op dit moment de TGV), maar een bruikbare passagierstrein bouwen is nog iets anders.  De Jappaners zijn zeer enthousiast over de nieuwe Hayabusa: overal hangen posters en er staat zelfs een opblaasbare miniatuur in Tokyo station.

ps: Raad eens hoeveel Wiskunde nodig is om deze trein te doen rijden?  Iemand?
